Pedro Cordero presented as new sports director

Miguel Concepción was at the press conference in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López, where the new CD Tenerife sports director, Pedro Cordero was presented. He has signed for a year which will be extended to a second year if the team moves up to the second division.
The blue and white president, to start with spoke about Cordero. “He is a man with vast experience who was in the first division with Murcia & Albacete. All his life he has worked in the football industry and recently collaborated with Granada CF. He knows the two B league well and which players we will need for the new project, he can make a group which is very important for us”.
When asked about Juanjo Lorenzo, the director from La Palma said, “the new sports director is taking the reins and Juanjo Lorenzo will tell him what he has done until now. When he has done this he can leave the club”.
Miguel Concepción also reminded that “the reality is that we are in two B and we need to make a competitive team to go back to the second division”.
Lastly, the man who is finally responsible for the CDT team talked about the coach. “I am concentrated on the next game and am sure we will not lose against UD Las Palmas. The new sports director will be here and he will decide whether David Amaral will take part in this new project”, he finished.

Pedro Cordero was presented and commented on the following points in the press conference:
Thanks.- I want to thank the president for the trust he has given me and Juanjo Lorenzo for showing me all the work he has done so far. We need to be conscious that this will be a difficult year.

Trainer.- Right now our coach is David Amaral. He has a year more on his contract. We will take a decision after the match against Las Palmas. I want to see what he says. To judge what he has done and see if he is the person suitable to lead this project. Right now we will leave him in
peace to concentrate on the game against Las Palmas.

Signings.- We need to be calm and have patience as many players still have contracts. It would be very complicated to maintain these in two B and they will need to leave. To sign new player we will need to have some go. This doesn't mean that we have not been looking at the future. We need players who can adapt quickly to this new league as the jump from Segunda or La Liga can need some time to adapt. The players need to be aware of the new leave”.

Kitoko.- I have talked to Kitoko and explained that we would like him to stay. He has shown he can play at this level since he arrived. He will be an important player next season. But we can't forget that the player isn't ours and we will need to fight to have him stay in the club”.

Agreements.- I am CD Tenerife's sports director. Decisions will be made by me alone and the president will have the last word. I will be the one who signs players and the coach will train the players who come. This doesn't mean I won't listen to his opinion. We will of course take advantage of the connection we have with Udinese & Granada to benefit CD Tenerife.

Youth players.- CD Tenerife has always had one of the best youth squads in Spain. They played the play offf against Sestao , a game which I saw, and I think we can use five or sixplayerss from the squad in the first team.

Market.- The most important thing is to adapt to the new level. We need to look for quality players who know how to adapt. It will be a hard year and a lesson in humility.

Merino.- We need to keep talking to Alfredo Merino. I still have to talk more to him and than we will decide. Listening is very important and then we will see if he is the ideal person.

Pre-season.- From next week we will decide who will do pre-season with us and who will not.

Iriome talks about the derby

Iriome González was the player interviewed on Monday in the press room in the Heliodoro after the training session. He was asked about the derby next weekend against UD Las Palmas which will be the last game of the season.
The player from Icod de los Vinos started by saying “an unusual derby because of our situation, but still it is important because of what it represents. It is an important game for the club and the fans”.
“If we win, we will at least leave the fans with a little happiness. Even if the team is descended the derby counts a lot. Those of us who are from here know what these games mean”, added Iriome, who doesn't expect to be greeted happily in Gran Canaria: “It won't be comfortable there as there is always an atmosphere. But we will not hide from this. A game like this at the end of the week is a great motivator”.
When asked about next season, Iriome said: “I hope that the future can be worked out for the benefit of the club and me. I would like to stay here, but right now I don't know anything”.

I would like to ask the fans not to abandon us. I will try to recover what we lost ...- Concepcion

Miguel Concepción was reelected as president of CD Tenerife, leading the renewal of the administrative council for the blue and white team the other members are, Pedro Suárez, Conrado González, Indalecio Pérez y Ricardo Siverio.
The extraordinary meeting took place in the Sala de Conferencias del Espacio Cultural de la Caja General de Ahorros de Canarias (CajaCanarias), in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, at 17.00. The only point of order at the meeting was the naming of the mew council and the only team presenting themselves was that of Miguel Concepción.

At the meeting there were 39.675 shares represented which is 30,45 % of the total capital, concequently as there was 25% of the shares the meeting could take place. The renewal of the council was voted in by 39.045 votes no votes against and 1.58% abstained.

Miguel Concepción afterwards asked the CD Tenerife fans not to abandon the team even though there had been two relegation’s. The president of the blue and whites talked about the reality of the club, its difficult economic situation and the fact the had been obliged to restructure the squad. He also thanked Enrique Estévez & Antonio Padrón who have retired as member of the council and will go on to help with the CD Tenerife foundation.

CONTINUITY.- “My intention was to retire after the five years but I couldn't turn my back on the club. We didn't see today an alternative to my team. I could only then continue as the maximum share holder”.

FUTURE.- “We can only look forwards. This league was a disaster and now we have to get up and go on. The project is a new squad with good players from two B and some older players from Segunda. The only objective is to go back up. It will be a young squad with the youth teams having the chance to take part. We want to build a framework for a team in Segunda”.

ECONOMY- “There are difficulties that we need to solve. We have talked to CajaCanarias about a some space in the repayment structure and we are negotiating with the tax office. We are close to having an agreement and I am sure it will be signed soon. The players know what is happening, three months ago I told them if we went down we would have serious problems”.
To find the money to pay this years wages we already had to look under rocks, no one should forget that the plan was to go up. Their contracts were signed for Segunda and La liga, not for two B. If there are players who want to stay on their present wages we will need to explain things carefully as this seems unfair. We will not allow them to drown the club. That doesn't seem fair. I won't deny if the new sports director is interested in any of the actual squad we will make an effort but with a revision of his contract”.

SQUAD.- “In two B the players go from good to very good and earn between 50.000 and 120.000 euros a season. I will not change the way we work. I only name sports directors. The coach will be picked by the new sports director. Amaral ha a contract for the next season but I can't be sure that the new sports director will want him as coach, If not I will not insist”.

OPOSITION.-  “70 % of the capital in this club is split, and consequently I can't see how anyone could say I control everything. I have said and repeated that my intention was to serve five years. I said if anyone was prepared to take over I would stand aside but I am not prepared to let the club go to the wall. Where is the alternative project. The only one I can see right now is mine. If you want to kill the only project there is then go ahead. I know there are others who are capable out there but they need to step up”.

REESTRUCTURING.- “There will be some changes in the club. Some staff will have to go. Money coming in has halved and there is no choice but to lessen outgoings. That said in two B we will be he club with the highest budget. I can't talk today about quantities. We should never have gone down, it was an accident. To stay in La Liga was hard as we had a very limited budget. Last year the three teams with the lowest budget were relegated. Here and now we all need to do our bit for CD Tenerife, but I will not force anyone. With 30 million euros you cannot maintain a place in La Liga and our budget wasn't that high. Right now I can't tell why we were relegated but we all said last August that this was a team with aspirations and we were all wrong. I did everything in my power to chance things. In two B we can't pay back the debts as our objective is to make a strong team and go back up. We can't stay in this category we need to move back up as soon as possible”.

NINO.- “Has suffered with the relegation he is a good player and any team would want him as he is a great professional”.

FANS.- “The best thing that CD Tenerife has is the fan base. I am responsible for what happened in the club and therefore it is not enough to apologize I need to fix things. I would like to ask the fans not to abandon us. I will try to recover what we lost and we will work hard to achieve this. What we really have here has nothing to do with which league we play in, it is the fans, and island fan base and that of the whole region. Things are how they are and we have lost this year But I can only tell you we are going to win. I ask again please don't abandon the club”.

Pedro Cordero is the new sports director for CD Tenerife. Miguel Concepción, announced this in the press conference after the meeting in the CajaCanarias. Cordero will be presented next week. The club president has asked for time to adapt and stated that he will not give interviews until the presentation.

Pedro Cordero Sánchez (17 August 1968) was a player in the first division in Real Murcia and in Albacete where he played with Rommel Fernandez. In Segunda he played in Salamanca, Badajoz & Toledo. As sports director he has worked in Águilas (Segunda B). He is a qualified coach.

Concepción commented that, “My relationship with Pina has been a friendship since he supported my entrance into the league commission, when he was still in Ciudad de Murcia. Pina is president of Granada CF and advisor for Udinese. I have talked to him about players who might be interesting for CD Tenerife”.

“I want to make clear that Pedro Cordero will be working for CD Tenerife independently. He is experienced and this will assure he can manage the project. I can't say if he is a friend Enrique Pina”, he added.

Miguel Concepción signalled that “Juanjo Lorenzo will be leaving all the information he has as did Santiago Llorente before. Pedro Cordero will look at this information. He will then design the new team. If we have to make an effort then we will manage this somehow. I believe he is the ideal person for the job”.

“We have a strong professional coming to work here and I hope he will adapt easily. He knows the category well and will form a good group. This is especially important at this level”, he finished.

David Amaral talks before the game against Ponferradina

David Amaral was the person interviewed on Friday after training, he started by commenting on the journey the team had made since he took over the blue and white bench. “Away from home CD Tenerife has played well. Here at home in exchange, it has been very hard more than anything during the first two games. After that we were capable of beating Recreativo and Valladolid. Then there was the win against Albacete”.
The coach from Arico then continued, “The situation hasn't been easy but we needed to find the motivation to compete. It is better to finish as well as we can and we will go on trying. We need to study well what happened here so it doesn't happen again”.
He was asked about eh next match against SD Ponferradina, “since the beginning SD Ponferradina was looking not to end up in relegation, they are an organised team and have some quality players. They still found it hard to move off the bottom of the table. What you will see are two teams who have been relegated”.
The head CD Tenerife coach was also questioned about the possibility of some of the players being changed so they could be cheered by the fans. “If the game has no risks, there are always possibilities”.
Lastly, David Amaral referred to the next match again saying, “Lets see if we can win a third game in a row. It is important that the squad show how they can play and that we finish as high up the table as e can. We will keep competing, training hard and for this I have to thank the players”.

Marc says goodbye

Marc Bertrán was one of the players interviewed this Thursday in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López, where he announced his departure from CD Tenerife at the end of the present season.
“Here right now for me an era has ended. In general, it has been very good and I take with me many great memories. I am very grateful to CD Tenerife for everything I have lived through here. I am proud to haver been here all this time in spite of the bad taste this season has left”.
The blue and white captain followed on by saying, “You always want the best for the team and right now I seem to have lost my perspective. There has been four fantastic years and one not so good. I think it is good to remember what I have given over the whole time”.
Marc, lastly, spoke about how he felt about the team. “In a situation like this is is hard to express oneself, words mean so little. CD Tenerife is very special, amongst other things because of the fans. I have lived through thinks I would never have had the chance to enjoy in other places. I hope that soon CD Tenerife will return to the categories it so deserves to be”.
Aitor Núñez, was also interviewed, he started by talking about the game against SD Ponferradina. “This is the second to last game of the season and we hope to win this Saturday. The weeks are all different but we are concentrated on winning these last two games. There are still things to be achieved here”.
When asked about his future the defender from Madrid said, “We are all waiting to see what the club says. We know our contracts are difficult to pay in two B. The club has stated their position. I will look to see what they offer me. None of the players will make things difficult for the club”.
Núñez, pointed out that “right now we all need to pull together” his hope is to stay in a club where he will have more chance to play. “I have been a long time without playing and next season where ever I am I will need to play”.
Finishing up the ‘3’ commented on the Two B division. “It is a really hard league, very difficult. It is not at all easy. There are teams which are at a similar level to the second division and CD Tenerife will very much the rival to beat”, he added.

After the season finishes I need to talk to the club - Nino

Nino & Carlos Bellvís were the two players interviewed on Tuesday after the training session in the Ciudad Deportiva.
The forward from Almeria was first and started by saying the game on Saturday was special as “many players will be leaving. It is the last game at home this season and I hope we will play well. We will go out to win, although this doesn't mean much, but we always try to win the three points”.
When asked about his contract with CD Tenerife, Nino stated that “we will see what happens. I am waiting for the season to finish and then we will see what happens. Being realistic it is complicated that I will still be here next year. Possibly this will be my last game but I need to talk to the club and then take a decision”.
The blue and white forward, talked about how sad the relegation made him. “Fans like those here in CD Tenerife don't deserve this, but unfortunately this is what has happened. It is a blow for everyone”.
Lastly, Nino talked about the four years he has spent in the island. What he has seen and felt playing for CD Tenerife. “I have been treated so well and have played as well as I know the whole time. I have been treated very well everywhere I have been on the island and in the stadium which has been great”.
Carlos Bellvís, started by talking about SD Ponferradina. “We have a game against another team who has been relegated which will give the youth players a chance to demonstrate they can play at this level”.
He was asked if he sees himself in the club next season to which he replied, “Lets see what happens to the players who still have a contract. Right now I am playing and we will see what happens. If I am told I have to go I will start looking in the holiday period”.
To conclude the blue and white defender talked about his playing since Amaral was coach. “I have found a rhythm. I am happy for myself but as a group it is terrible the team had been relegated. Right now we need to finish as high as we can in case there is a team who can't pay their players and e can take their place”.

Pablo doesn't know where he will be in the future

“We are trying to finish the season with dignity. In Albacete we played well and worked hard. We know these points don't mean much but the idea is that we finish as best as we can. We need to give all we can”. Started Pablo Sicilia in his press conference. He added, “What happened this year has been an enormous blow for everyone, for the players, the fans and the whole island”.
The blue and white ‘6’, also, talked about the game this Saturday. “We need to concentrate on the game against Ponferradina. We still haven't started to think about the match against Las Palmas”, he continued.
In reference to his possibly continuing in the club, Sicilia stated that “I don't know what the future will bring but right now I need to play well on the pitch. Many of the players contracts finish now and the rest of us need to wait and see what happens. It seems clear that against Ponferradina many will say goodbye, and for this alone it is important that we win”.
He continued on this theme, “I don't know where I will be next season. In any case I have lived five great years here in CD Tenerife. I have had a wonderful time and thanks everyone I have come in contact with. I don't know what will happen in the future”.
lastly, Pablo Sicilia talked about the youth players who started in the Carlos Belmonte. “I am pleased for Moreno & Ayoze. Amaral is great to have given then this chance. It is good for the youth players to start in the first team. I hope many of them get a chance to play” he finished.

Moreno talks about how pleased he was to have played

The game on Saturday with Albacete Balompié-CD Tenerife was very special for Moreno. The player from the CDT second team made his debut for the first side. The local player spoke yesterday to the club website after his return from the mainland about how happy he was to have played and won.
“I am some what tired from the trip, but really happy that we won, that I was in the squad and had the chance to play. Exactly the opposite to what I expected I was really calm. When we warmed up I was a little nervous but on the pitch you just put your head down and play. It was great first game to win. All the players helped me a lot. We played well together”, he said at the start of the interview.
“The game wasn't very tense as both teams are in two B. I really enjoyed the match”, he added. All my life I have played as a central defender, but this year I have been moved forward. I have to say I have adapted to this position well”, he concluded.

Rumours

I thought today about translating something from the club website. There are comments from several players talking about how they want to finish the season as best as they can.
But what most of you probably want to know is what is going on, what is being said on the island and what gossip says is possible.
On the zonablanquiazul there are a lot of rumors and facts there are few. Still I will share what I have read both there and in the newspapers.
As you may have read on Monday the sports director said everyone has to go the wages are too high and in two B they would be over paid. Since then there seem to have been offers for Julio Alvarez from Betis, Ricardo from Sporting and Almeria. There has been an offer for Iriome from Villarreal B and talks about Omar. Pablo has aparently has offers from three clubs including Las Palmas.
There are several rumors which say Jose Luis Oltra might come back but I can't find what they might be based on except that he said he would train Tenerife even in two B. Nino has come out and said he is not just a player for the first and second league which might mean he wants to stay. There was a twitter rumour that club President Miguel Concepcion is trying to work out how Nino might be kept in the team.
Sergio Aragoneses has said before the team descended that he would like to stay and Natalio has said that no one would make the club pay all the outstanding payments due. (He has 2 years left on his contract).
Rumors about the season ticket prices include Tribuna 220 €, San Sebastian 200-180, Herradura 130 & popular 110 €.
New players - there is talk about Cristo Martin from Universidad de Las palmas, also the return of Kiko Raton. Yeray from Mensajero and Maikle from La laguna have also been mentioned.
Please remember these are all rumours and I am not sure about any of them.

The start of a new era

Juanjo Lorenzo gave a press conference today and stated the following points about the future of the club CD Tenerife:
Analysis.- “The first thing I need to do is acknowledge the mistakes that are both mine and the groups. Secondly it is clear since Monday that the most important thing is to get back at least to the second division as soon as possible. Thirdly we need to see that this never happens again. This is the moment to start from zero and try to make sure that as soon as possible the club can get back to where they were for itself, its history and the fans”.
Thanks and apologies.- “I would like on one side to say thank you and on the other say sorry. The way we have been treated has been tremendous, with a support we haven't deserved this year and has been much more than we have given in return. I am sure that because of this soon you will be back where you belong. The only objective needs to be to get back to the second division. This club doesn't deserve to be in two B”.
Contracts.- For next season we have 15 players with ongoing contracts, all of which were made for a team in the first or second division. None are suitable for two B. This is an unacceptable cost for this level in spite of the fact we plan a strong and ambitious season. So the people who are left in the club can work well, with liberty these contracts need to be resolved right now”. He continued “ideally by the first of July 2011, CD Tenerife will have no contract with any player. In two B there are a lot of costs and very little incoming money. The budget needs to be planned much more carefully than in the first or second league. This needs to be solved now because if not it will be very difficult for the staff who are coming to work. To a point where I would say a future project would be impossible. If the club needs to start the season with this additional weight it will be very complicated. This definitively is the first step for CD Tenerife”.
“If it is considered suitable that one or even some of the present players continue in the club and it can be worked out then we will need to try to organise that they stay here. But we need the first steps to come from the players as our budget has changed. There is not one player in the squad whose wages we can afford in two B. Right now I can't see how we could possibly afford any of those contracts”.
Responsibility.- “When you take part in a project, at what ever point that is you take on the responsibility. When you sign a contract, you take all the responsibilities and events that go with the job. I feel I failed and e failed and can't explain it any other way”.
Leaving.- “This coming season I will not be in the club. If things don't go right then you need to move aside and let someone else through so they can do things better”.
Unplanned.- “Nobody though it would come to relegation. The teams contracts are for amounts aid in the first division with some for the second division but none for two B. Ability wise there are some players who would be very useful for the next season but their wages are too high for there to be any possible negotiation right now”.
New stage.- “Since Monday there has started a new stage in this club, which has nothing to do with the previous stages. We are now in a situation that is both economically and sports wise very different. But there is no way we can feel sorry for ourselves nor should this create a public debate as there is no solution. Today is the first day in the path to return to where we should be”.
Contracts.- “I will not be signing any players for next season. The person who will do this is the one who comes after me. He will be in charge of the long term plan and will seek out the most viable players”.
Planing.- “When this season finishes, there will be other things. The club finds itself in a moment where it needs to restructure for the next few years. I am sure they will manage this and that they will return to the league they deserve to be in soon. Perhaps even stronger then they are now”.
Resolving contracts.- This is something the club needs to do in the next few weeks. They need to do this well and its is the first step which needs to be solved for the future. I know the fans what to know what will be the new sports plan but firstly the club needs to resolve these contracts which I will be doing myself”.
Alternatives.- “If the best option is to put a player out on loan until next year to a second division team this is something we might do”.
Trainer.- “David Amaral has a contract, which was something we decided whether the team was saved or not. This said any decision taken in the sports area will be made by the new sports director. Who will of course have my support and advice”.

Tenerife is like a home for me - Sergio Aragoneses

“It has finally happened. Now we have to finish the season the best we can. The team wasn't capable. We made many mistakes”. This is how CD Tenerife captain, Sergio Aragoneses started talking about the teams relegation.
The goal keeper from Galica continued on the same theme talking to the fans saying, “The situation is bad for everyone and we need to do as much as we can. The fans have always supported the team and we can only thank them. They are one of the great pillars that the team has”.
Lastly, Aragoneses was asked whether he would continue next season. He replied, “It is an option. Tenerife is like a home for me”, he finished.

Amaral hopes to calm and enthuse the players

David Amaral in his interview this Friday started by analysing the game against Real Valladolid. The game tomorrow afternoon will be difficult but “as always we are going to try to add points to our total. The is no other option for us but to try to find a win even if the game is hard. If we could finish the season better than we are this would be good. We have pride and humility”.
The coach from Arico stated that “Things went as they did. There will be life after this season finishes but there are still 4 rounds and we want to finish as well as we can. We need to demonstrate professionalism. We are only thinking about the next game and nothing more. Talk about the following game doesn't help us”.

Amaral continued about the whole situation: “It makes you so cross the whole thing. That the team is in this situation. Those of us who love the team and the fans all feel really bad. It is clear we did not achieve our targets”.

In respect to Real Valladolid, the blue and white trainer said, “they have played the last few games well and still have chances to reach the playoffs. They found new players and have recovered their spirit. They have gone from less to more. That shows real character in a team, they managed to escape the relegation zone”.

Lastly the CD Tenerife coach was asked about the players. His reply was concise: “If you are in an uncomfortable situation, the first thing you need to do is calm the footballers. We need to do this and keep them motivated until the end of the championship. They need to be clear headed and play the best they can”.

Julio Alvarez hopes to fulfil his obligations.

“We want to finish the season in the most professional manner we can and fulfil our obligations”, commented Julio Álvarez. The blue and white mid fielder hopes to win against Real Valladolid, but “we are realistic and we know it is very complicated”.
The player added that “we are conscious that we have done things well and that finally football shows you that. We have played well the whole season and this is sad for everybody. We had many chances, in spite of the mistakes we made. This makes you more angry”.

Julio Álvarez considered that “we were missing many things to take us through a complicated situation. We are professionals and now we need to look forward, pick ourselves up and move on as we can”.

Lastly the player was asked about his future, his answer was clear: “we haven't talked but the club needs to make their ideas clear and us ours. I came here with the idea to play in the first league but things change”.

German was excited to have the chance to start for CD Tenerife.

In spite of the loss, the game on Wednesday night against Real Betis was very special for local player Germán, who started for the CD Tenerife team for the first time. The player was due to start on the bench but last minute injury of mid fielder Hidalgo gave him the chance to be in the starting eleven. He was an hour on the field and was then substituted by Omar. German talked on the CD Tenerife club official website.
¿What do you think about the game on Wednesday night?
“For me personally it was an incredible experience especially the atmosphere in the stadium. To this you need to add that I had the chance to start for the team”.
The change to be in the starting eleven was unexpected. How did you feel?
“I didn't have the chance to be nervous but just went out on the grass with enthusiasm. It was something I was hoping for”.
What did your colleagues say?
“They were really helpful. They encouraged me and at the same time told me to to stay calm and play they way I do normally”.
And the coach?

“As they have until now. As hard as they can to see how high they can be in the table”.

We need to show what we can do. The coach said today.

David Amaral was interviewed this Friday in the press conference in the Heliodoro stadium, before the game tomorrow against Recreativo de Huelva. The blue and white coach was very clear with his statements saying, “Our idea is to in as many points as possible and finish the season with as much dignity as we can. We need to maintain pride and dignity to the end of the season”.
The trainer from Arico commented that “the way the players are behaving is good, with the only exception being they haven't won any games. We need to do everything the best we can”. He continued, “The situation is not easy for anyone, although the squad is still trying their hardest. It is upsetting but we need to go on trying to the end”.
When asked about the rival team the Tenerife coach admitted that, ”Recreativo de Huelva managed to move up from the bottom of the table. This season hasn't been easy for them but they took the steps to move out of relegation”.
When he was questioned about the youth team players chosen for this weekends squad David Amaral replied, “they are on the list because they have trained well. They have achieved things with their team and we need to show them they can move up and help the first team. That said we don't expect them to resolve this situation. It doesn't work like that. But with their youth and attitude they can show us other things”. Lastly he was asked about the last few games and he answered, “We weren't worse than Huesca or Villarreal B but we lost those games. Neither were Alcorcon or Granada better than us and we played at their level. We need to show what we can do” he finished.

Relegation always hurts - stated David Prieto

Sebastián Dubarbier & David Prieto were the two players from CD Tenerife who were interviewed by the press on Thursday. The Argentine and the player from Andalucia meet the press after the training session which took place in the Ciudad Deportiva Geneto-Los Baldíos.
Dubarbier is clear that “We need to play with enthusiasm as the situations is very hard for the fans, but the players need to concentrate on their work”.
The mid fielder showed himself pleased to have overcome his physical problems which have keep him form the field in the last few weeks, “I hope to play on Saturday, either from the bench or on the field. This injury has driven me mad. The problem with my ankle was strange but now I feel better. The pain is now bearable”.
“The new trainer is trying to help the team but creating order” he commented about the arrival of David Amaral to the technical squad.
David Prieto started by saying that “We need to improve, no one expected the team to be here at this stage in the league we need to find the three points this Saturday. We have things that need correcting”.
“In am trying to work all week to be in the eleven, but the coach is the one who decides”, he said about his options of returning to the team.
“The season has been complicated since the start. They are difficult days for everyone”, admitted Prieto, adding to this: “Whilst mathematically there are chances, we need to fight every points. We need to hold onto that, We need to finish the season in a dignified manor. Being relegated is something that hurts a lot”.

Richie Kitoko isn't sorry to have come to Tenerife

“Football is like that. We need to think about the games that are left. And for ourselves e need to try to finish the best we can. We are really affected by the results but we need to move forward. There needs to be hard work and no one is giving up we will try to win the next game”.
These were the words Richie Kitoko said after the training session CD Tenerife had last night after the teams arrival from the mainland after the loss against Granada. The mid fielder felt that they needed to keep fighting until the end, even if things didn't go right.
With reference to the game last Sunday, the player from Congo who couldn't play explained that, “In the first half the team really fought and you could see them winning. But when Melli was sent off, everything became more complicated and in the end Granada kept the three points. We are very troubled but we need to keep going until the end of the league”.
“I am not sorry I can here. I would have liked that things had been different. We are all sad for the state of the team” he finished.

The coaches words after the game.

David Amaral wasn't especially critical when he talked about the game played by CD Tenerife in Los Cármenes, where the team suffered another loss. The Coach from Tenerife discussed how the players had fought on the field and how they didn't deserve the results they had seen.
The blue and white trainer commented that “This cost us badly, we didn't read the match well. We stepped back and this gave Granada space to move towards the goal. Generally they played a good game, working together. They played within the limits of their capabilities”.
“We are going to keep working as professionals looking to gain all the points we can. We tried to add some here but t is hard against a team who are fighting to ascend a division. We need to play with pride at all times. We need to finish with dignity. Granada is a team we should look at. A team who just came up from 2B who play well together”, he added.
Without looking for excuses, the coach recognised that “a team with so much difficulty on the field normally, with ten men will find things even harder. They were maintaining a level and then the red card made things worse. Granada knew how manoeuvre the game and that counts”.
When asked about the players who will be missing in the next few games the blue and white coach explained, “I need to thank the players. In the break Iriome came and told me that he couldn't play on. Melli's injury could be bad and we will be missing Julio Alvarez for accumulation of cards”.
David Amaral lamented that since he had arrived there hadn't been the expected change: “We took over the team at a difficult time and hope to make changes, but it didn't work. We wanted to help the club as they are in a complicated situation. We need to think about next year but first we need to finish this season”.
